The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker - GameBoy Advance Link

A Link to GameBoy Advance...

One of those features is the games capability to link up with a GameBoy Advance, via a Nintendo GameCube-GameBoy Advance Link cable, without needing any kind of additional cartridge. This is a brand new feature to the Zelda world, and will finally let that 2nd person in on the adventure. Once you find the item enabling you to link to the GBA, the "Tingle Tuner" in The Wind Waker, you will be able to hook it up and play as eveyone's favorite middle-aged fairy from Majora's Mask, Tingle. Remember that using the Tingle Tuner is not required during gameplay, however it will help to make your quest more complete and enjoyable!

You can communicate with Tingle via the Tingle Tuner, which he will be able to provide a 2D map of the area, plus many more interesting benefits. The 2nd person operating the GBA will be able to move around a square of the map, operating separately from the GameCube's control. Link is shown as an arrow on the GBA screen, and enemies are shown as dots. Through the maps provided by Tingle, you will be able to see the area that Link is around, which will also show you hidden locations and more. You will also be able to equip certain items, such as bombs to make Link's journey easier, with the guide of Tingle. Tingle can help Link by dropping bombs with the B Button, at the cost of 10 rupees to Link. With the A button, you can use the Tingle Tuner to alert Link, such as when you can see a secret location on the GBA. You can also use the R button on the GBA to join Link in the GameCube game. Another big feature of the link between Link and Tingle Tuner, is that you won't get a Game Over while using it. Overall, the GBA link to the Wind Waker will prove to be a rather handy tool in your quest to rescue Link's sister. You'll be able to see the connection personally with the US release of The Wind Waker on March 24, 2003.
